Documentary-Style Corporate & Brand Films

Transform your business narrative with authentic, documentary-style corporate video production. Based in Edinburgh, operating UK-wide. “Netflix-grade” storytelling that builds trust and ROI.

The Era of "Perfect" Corporate Video is Over.

Stop me if you’ve seen this before: A generic upbeat soundtrack, stock footage of people shaking hands in slow motion, and a scripted interview that feels… stiff.

Your audience has evolved. In a world saturated with AI content and polished ads, humanity is the moat.

If your video content feels manufactured, your customers tune out. They don’t want to be sold to; they want to believe in something. They trust people, not faceless logos.

Enter Business Storytelling.

At Strength in Motion, we bridge the gap between cinematic art and business strategy. We use a documentary approach to capture the raw, unscripted reality of your brand.

We don’t script your team to sound like actors. We interview them to sound like experts. We trade “pretty visuals” for emotional resonance that drives measurable business results (ROI and Trust).

Our Philosophy:

  • Authenticity over Perfection: We capture the “raw reality” because audiences crave it.

  • Strategy First: We act as a strategic business partner, diagnosing your goals before picking up a camera.

  • Light-Footprint Production: No massive crews disrupting your workday. We use a lean, “light-first” philosophy to keep subjects comfortable and costs efficient.

What is Documentary Advertising?

Documentary-style corporate videos blend the factual, unscripted nature of journalism with the visual language of cinema. Unlike traditional corporate videos, which are scripted and storyboarded down to the second, documentary corporate video relies on discovery.

We interview your key stakeholders using frameworks to help them articulate their story naturally, rather than forcing them to memorize lines. This results in content that engages the viewer’s empathy. This style works because it respects the viewer’s intelligence.

Why Choose Us?

We Are Business Owners, Not Just “Camera Operators”

We understand that you aren’t buying a video; you are buying a solution to a problem (trust, time-saving, growth). We view ourselves as partners in your growth.

Founded by Manuel, an Italian Director based in Edinburgh, Strength in Motion was built on the belief that obstacles are part of the story. We are known for “building” businesses and focusing on story/strategy over technical perfection. We lean into unique traits rather than hiding them.

Transparent Pricing & Process

We operate on a “Target Budget” approach, tailoring the scope of the production to maximize your specific budget.

Our Storytelling in Action

Traces - An Artist’s Journey to the Lost Past

This documentary follows Scottish artist Rose Strang as she uncovers the forgotten ruins of a Carmelite friary in Luffness Forest. Inspired by its connection to a fallen Crusader and centuries of conflict, she transforms history into art. Featuring insights from renowned art impresario Richard Demarco, Traces explores how echoes of the past still shape our present.

Nets of Tomorrow - A Collaborative Effort to Sustain Fisheries and Marine Life

This short documentary captures the groundbreaking collaboration between scientists, fishermen, and policymakers reshaping marine conservation. We spent nights aboard a vessel and traveled between Scotland, England and Northern Ireland documenting these innovative gear trials.

Frequently asked. Documentary filmmaking in Edinburgh

How much does a documentary-style video cost?

Every project is custom quoted, but projects typically range between £1200 and £6,000 depending on complexity. If you have a target budget, we can usually tailor the scope to fit it.

Do I need to write a script?

That’s actually discouraged for this style. We will prepare interview questions and a "shot list", but the dialogue should be unscripted to maintain authenticity.

I’m in London/Manchester. Do you travel?

Yes. We are based in Edinburgh but operate UK-wide and internationally. Travel is free within 50 miles of Edinburgh; beyond that, we charge standard mileage or travel fees at cost.

What if our team is camera shy?

That is our specialty. We use a conversational interview technique where you speak "with" us, not "at" a lens. We also focus on your "Why" and values, which makes talking much easier.

Can you film outside Edinburgh or Scotland?

Absolutely. While based in Edinburgh, we regularly film across Scotland, the UK and internationally. From rural communities and corporate HQs to overseas shoots, we handle logistics, travel and local crew coordination worldwide.

Do you offer interviews or on-camera coaching?

Yes. We help contributors and team members feel confident on camera with gentle guidance on posture, pacing and tone, perfect for authentic, natural performances that connect with audiences.

Can you help with subtitles, social clips or festival submissions?

Definitely. We deliver multiple versions of each film (social media cutdowns, vertical edits, captioned versions) and can also help with festival submissions, press kits and distribution materials.
